Individual Therapy

'Therapy' may have many definitions and many components. Individual therapy can provide a safe space to discuss difficult issues. Therapy is a process that begins with an invitation into a conversation. The therapeutic environment is one free of shame, one that empowers rather than limits. The choice of therapists is important. Outcomes are enhanced when therapists are warm, empathic, rewarding, and directive.

Both Kim and Seth utilize Motivational Interviewing (MI) strategies to enhance therapeutic engagement and decrease ambivalence. Kim has been trained in the application of Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT). Regardless of what techniques are used, or what topics are discussed, it is important to meet each client where they are, to set objectives jointly, to make goals attainable, and to communicate honestly.
