About Us

The word "counterpoise" means a factor or influence that balances another. Often, those who seek therapy feel out of balance, either with their partner, their environment, or themselves. As therapists, our goal is in part, to help our clients regain that balance in order to help them lead better lives.

Counterpoise Wellness was formed in 2021 by the wife and husband team of Kim Kosmala and Seth Wescott. After working for non-profit, private practice, and State agencies, we made the decision to open our own practice.

Our practice serves a variety of clients from adolescents to adults. We specialize in forensic populations as well as couples, and those who struggle with emotional and behavioral regulation.

We are avid hikers; we love to explore nature and our happy place is the side of a mountain. Hiking, like life, is not about the destination, but the journey. Hikers often rely on cairns, a set of stacked stones, to mark the way on a trail. The cairn is the symbol of our practice. It reminds us that even when we feel lost, with a little help we can get and stay on the right path.
